NOSE SURGERY (Rhinoplasty)
A rhinoplasty is done primarily to realign a nose or correct a nasal deformity. The septoplasty or intranasal surgery is done for correction of breathing and involves work on the nasal septum that separates the two nasal passages. The operation is done under local anesthesia with sedation on an outpatient basis. It is performed through the nostrils and involves the removal of some of the nasal cartilage and bone which then alters the external shape of the nose. Healing usually takes about 7 to 10 days and most people can return to work in about a week’s time. |
