FACIAL RECONSTRUCTION
Deformities of the face may result from accidents, cancer surgery or birth defects. The treatments are usually surgical and may include: skin grafting, skin flaps (tissue is shifted), tissue expansion, dermabrasion and laser skin resurfacing. In these procedures an attempt is made to replace the deformity with normal appearing skin/tissue and to restore the normal anatomy. Occasionally bone, cartilage, fat grafts or synthetic materials are utilized to help recreate the normal anatomy. These problems are invariably unique and require individualize treatment to be successful.
