CHEMICAL PEEL
A chemical peel is a procedure in which an acid solution is used to improvable the deep lines, wrinkles and areas of pigmentation on the face by removing the surface epithelium. There are a variety of acid solutions including phenol, trichloracetic acid and alphahydroxy acids. Each of these solutions have particular advantages and can be adjusted for a person’s particular needs for skin resurfacing.
All of these procedures are done as an outpatient office procedure and are relatively painless. Occasionally they can be combined with other surgical procedures such as a facelift or blepharoplasty. Most commonly they are part of an overall skin care program which will be started before the chemical peel. Healing after a chemical peel takes about 2 to 3 weeks. |
