Mastopexy (Breast Lift) is a surgical procedure to reshape sagging breasts. As women age and with added factors such as pregnancy and breast feeding, the breasts can lose their shape and begin to droop. This condition tends to worsen over time especially as skin tissue loses its elasticity. Mastopexy or breast lift surgery is designed to restore breasts to their former appearance. At the same time the breasts can be made larger in size as well.

The operation is done by reducing the size of the nipple/areola complex and repositioning the nipple complex to a higher position on the breast mound. Excess skin is removed and the breast mound is uplifted to a slightly higher position on the chest wall Skin incisions are made on the breast skin and the resultant scars are placed as to minimize their noticeability. If an increase in the breast size is also desired, then a breast implant is placed beneath the breast tissue at the same time. Healing takes about 10 to 14 days, after which most patients can resume normal activities.
